Onsite Health Solutions provides medical testing and health screening services to businesses across the Midwest. Simonton Strategic Solutions designed and built a simplified, purpose-built CRM in Excel — organized by company, coordinator assignment, and contact role. VI Controls, an electrical controls and construction firm, maintained their entire project pipeline in a complex Excel macro workbook — tracking phases (Pre-Wire, Program, Startup, Training), technician assignments, distributor relationships, and next actions across dozens of active projects. The data existed, but there was no way to visualize it, filter it interactively, or share it with stakeholders in a meaningful format. Leadership had no Power BI experience and needed a path from spreadsheet to dashboard that their team could actually follow and maintain.

The Solution

Simonton Strategic Solutions produced a comprehensive, plain-language Power BI build guide tailored specifically to VI Controls' data structure. The guide walked the team through every step — installing Power BI Desktop, cleaning the raw Excel data in Power Query, building five distinct dashboard visuals, adding interactive slicers for real-time filtering, and publishing or sharing the finished report. Each step was written for a non-technical user, with tips, troubleshooting notes, and a full glossary of Power BI terminology.
